Except for a relative few I listen to who support a union with the US, ie, Frank Vaughn, Clyde Do Something, I hear no one else seeing a union as an answer. Seems to me it could work, but not if the majority of Canadians oppose it.

That's certainly true.

To me it depends on what you guys want. We would welcome you with open arms but only if it's your choice. Seems like a lot would love lower taxes if nothing else...Just the idea that it's on the table is actually a shock to my brain.

I think it would shock the whole world's brains! But maybe the world needs a huge shake-up to keep things from getting stale.

On the other hand, maybe it'd be better to break up the US, merging some states with some of our provinces. You folks share the same east-west discord that we do (here, "whatever Quebec wants, Quebec gets"), and wouldn't it make sense to have geographically coherent regions, such as "Cascadia" (Pacific NorthWest), East Coast Maritime states, inland mountainous vs prairie farmland states... I'm just riffing here.

Haha, I'm from Texas. We want to secede. We have the signatures to put it on the ballot. But our legislature won't do it. (violation of law) But Texas is the only state that can do it because we joined by treaty, not acquisition. And now that Trump is our President, not as many are unhappy with the feds. Many people do talk about splitting up the lib states from the conservative ones but I don't see that happening.

Alberta is Canada's 'Texas' ... has been making secession noises for ages. Both are oil and cattle states!

I think what Trump really wants is for Canadians to stand together and take back their country. Ideally, this would mean leaving the EU and becoming independent through honest elections.

Probably, and rightly so. But 'honest elections'... what are those? ha ha

I hope Trump is successful in his promise to restore day-of, paper ballot only voting, then maybe we'd get to have that here, too.

Isn't Pierre Poilievre in favor of that?

No it’s not: China already bought it, or at least, the current maladministration.
