Yes Joanie, TOTALLY!! And, everyone knows that at the office when the women, who freeze at higher temps than the men, turn the thermostat up the guys always turn it down again. I think all women who work in offices have at least a sweater; I and others have been known to harbor an illicit space heater under the desk as long as we could get away with it . I like Kim. I don't actually ever watch so-called news anymore. Maybe these ladies need to find an honest way to make a living. If there are any left. Every day I thank God and whoever else wants to listen that I am retired.
So true. And I don't assume it's the men handing down such a dress code. Maybe, or partly, but if women stood their ground (in flatter shoes ha ha!) I'm sure this could be easily changed.
Well, sometimes it is the men with the dress rules. Especially if you work in food service. It'[s hard to know.... love flatter shoes, now with the bunions, what else is there (frownie emoji)
Oh, you're right... there's a restaurant chain here, called the Cactus Club... those poor young women on their feet for hours in heels and skimpy dresses. Outrageous.
I notice the same. It would good to see us break free of these tired, old patterns.(I never did connect it with M Obama though.) Glad you got it off your chest. :-)
At my new company they just hired a mascot whom they now parade out front at training and meetings. She has ridiculous multi-colored hair all bunched-up and she dons shoulderless tee shirts with gaudy tattoss. She is our marketing director. I agree with you about the sexpot women too. FOX made its mark by hiring fake blondes who would wear short dresses and tons of make-up. I like my news women smart in mind and dress.
Yes, it's so ironic that in having "made it" to a plum, high-profile career, such women are yet made to objectify themselves in the very way that undoes the gender equality they've supposedly achieved. As for your company's new marketing director, now that's a whole new freak show isn't it. I can just imagine.
can you accommodate a little bit of whining from me?
this is about my campaign to get people to kick in some help for Jim Lee to fix his teeth. I just put stuff in comments, wherever I think it might be noticed. I mostly get a non-response, although you actually responded which I appreciate !
why do I think this is important? when people have been burned out of their homes, aren't they much more deserving of help than someone who just has problems with their teeth? when children are being kidnapped wholesale, wouldn't we rather put our resources and attention on that horrific problem?
I think what I want to say is some people have been working hard all along to help *prevent these disasters by developing accurate and useful information. it's like with health problems, is it better to invest in prevention or wait till you have something horrible going on and everyone can feel really upset about this raging cancer you have or your terrible Parkinson's disease?
I feel like prevention is a much better strategy. I feel like supporting anyone who can help me with prevention is a good use of my resources. so I try to spend my money on Dr Mercola's shop or my local farmer market, put my money on resources that can help me prevent illness.
it also means spending money out of pocket to go to doctors who can support health and are independent of the medical Mafia. when I talk to people about that, even though they are spending God knows how much to build a brand new house, they are generally not interested in actually spending money to stay healthy.
I see this as kind of a parallel situation - if we want to defeat or escape the monster, we need good information. This guy Jim Lee has been working on this stuff since 2015 ? not sure, maybe earlier. you know how Sage has opened our eyes to Robert Malone being a wolf in sheep's clothing? well Jim Lee opened my eyes to Dane Wigington being a wolf in sheep's clothing, likely having funding from CIA or related. so I kind of thought people who support Sage by buying coffees Etc. might also want to support Jim Lee.
So far, I have not found this to be the case. Although one person at least responded with a reason for not wanting to support Jim Lee, which was better than just being ignored. ( Although being a female, I am totally used to being ignored haha, and now being an old female I get even less attention! not actually complaining here, I have a few people who do listen to me, and I find that to be enough )
I am genuinely puzzled by this. I guess I get it, I am a person who could not sell ice water to people in hell, I haven't really figured that out yet. I guess this is just another example of that. anyway if you have anything to say about this, I would appreciate your input, even if it is just to address my salesmanship skills or lack of. thanks for reading this far Joanie . take care and I hope the lightning does not get you ✨
or even to find out if what we are doing is helping or hurting, like putting on your pink ribbon and contributing to the breast cancer industry 😝 I was about to say end of rant, but this rant will never end
No worries, Joanie. I appreciate that you didn't delete my other comments, and that you responded. It is helpful to know where my communication efforts fall short, as I know that is an area needing improvement.
I understand your rationale about donating to those involved in prevention attempts. But I am brand new to Jim (and know nothing about Dane Wigington). You clearly want to support him in the most effective way possible; I suggest writing your own substack to feature his work, or entreating him to write his own, or volunteering to help him do that. I see that Reinette has interviewed him and he could gain traction by making use of those following him who're also on Substack. It is good that you want to help further his cause but there's only so much you can do as a third party. Everyone is being hit now by infinite donation appeals, not just to the Maui cause, and most don't like to be put on the spot by being personally solicited. I know you mean well but it's not an effective approach.
Agree Joanie, and I got vocal about 8-9 years ago at the Today show cast, the women were all wearing baby doll dresses and super high heels. What grown adult woman wears a baby doll dress as a news anchor unless she works for pedophiles?
The pet peeve was the super high heels were being suggested as standard footwear in a budget friendly less than $100 price category - as if normal women have time to teeter around on super high heels. It was normalizing pedo fashion for business women or whoever watches midmorning NBC news.
My case is unusual - secret industry insider kind of - there was a ripple effect but it was just in moving towards other fashion looks for the female anchors. The baby doll dresses did switch to something less pedo - the high heel trend didn't change though.
I've been noticing it for years and I'm glad someone else has, too. "Dressed like cocktail waitresses" is how I've been describing the female talking heads, starting with Ann Coulter, whom I found difficult to take seriously for that very reason. Business-suited men with cocktail-dressed women is more appropriate for a 1950's Hugh Hefner cocktail party than for a TV news cast/discussion panel, yet here we are in enlightened, women-liberated 21st century. Forget Orwell and Huxley; Western civilization has become a Monty Python skit.
Yes, she had her own unique "Annie Hall" style..

It is extremely unprofessional for a woman to be showing bare arms and bare legs with a short skirt when surrounded by male colleagues wearing suits.
Another pet peeve I have is women who show cleavage at work.
...same women who will complain about men who look at their boobs.
Can you spell B-I-M-B-O?
Yes! That's another peeve of mine, too. Like, what are they thinking???
Yes yes yes!
... and yes!
yes, this!! ...same women who will complain about men who look at their boobs.
The phenomena has been noted, this guy wore the same suit for a year on telly and no one noticed - https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/womens-blog/2014/nov/17/male-tv-presenter-same-suit-year-female-colleagues-judged
And that was back in 2014!!! Good for him, I say!
Agree!! Even if a woman is very fit and has nice arms, it's still wrong.
It really is. No question.
I notice the same. It would good to see us break free of these tired, old patterns.(I never did connect it with M Obama though.) Glad you got it off your chest. :-)
Thanks, Kathleen! Yes, there's something to writing about it (and publishing)... freeing somehow.
Natalie Winters on Steve Bannon's WarRoom all too often shows cleavage.
She is a smart woman and a great investigative reporter.
Why does she think it is necessary to show her boobs?
Would be good to be able to ask her that... !

''mascot.'' LMAO

of course, there is the possibility that some people did contribute, and I just don't know about it 😜
this is the kind of BS that makes me crazy - let's all feel great about helping victims, but do nothing to prevent the tragedies -
https://kirschsubstack.com/p/save-maui-concert-this-saturday-september
or even to find out if what we are doing is helping or hurting, like putting on your pink ribbon and contributing to the breast cancer industry 😝 I was about to say end of rant, but this rant will never end
I agree with you about this. Even the poster's wording is revealing "Save Maui" with the victims in small print underneath.
Please don't be offended Phar but I'm deleting this long, unwieldy comment as it's impossible to follow.
No worries, Joanie. I appreciate that you didn't delete my other comments, and that you responded. It is helpful to know where my communication efforts fall short, as I know that is an area needing improvement.
We all struggle along as best we can!

Did your vocalizations get any traction at all" Most likely not, right. Great to get feedback here from someone from within the industry itself.
My case is unusual - secret industry insider kind of - there was a ripple effect but it was just in moving towards other fashion looks for the female anchors. The baby doll dresses did switch to something less pedo - the high heel trend didn't change though.
Sigh...
I agree.
The same is true for swimsuits. Guys wear baggy shorts and Tee shirts.
Yes! I hadn't thought of that!
It is an odd dichotomy, isn’t it? Feminists who have “made it” to some high profile position, now dressing like a Barbie doll.
🎯

So well put!!! Thanks for chiming in here :^)
My pleasure! Thank you for your substack! :)
Welcome aboard!
I am a dinosaur all of this stuff is just exhausting.
I feel that way mostly, too.
like is still non functional, this is a like.
